At today’s Artist Talk at PCA&D, Sharon Core encouraged PCA&D students to be patient. “There’s no shortcut,” she said as she described the painstaking research and meticulous effort she uses her photography to recreate and interpret still life painting by artists including contemporary painter Wayne Thiebaud, 19th-century artist Raphaelle Peale, and floral artists from 1606 through 1907. Sharon Core is a NYC-based photographer whose experience as a food stylist and inspiration from contemporary artist Wayne Theibaud, inspired her turn painting from photographs the “other way around.”  This image by Sharon Core, is “Early American, Strawberries and Ostrich Egg, 2007.” 23 x 17 inch Chromogenic Print. Also pictured: Sharon Core, center, with Lexa Buechler, senior photography major, left,  and Eric Weeks, PCA&D Chair of Fine Art & Chair of Photography, right.
